Welcome to #CareerServChat! Please share your name/pronouns, where you work or study, and what the mascot for your alma mater is! Remember to finish each tweet with the #CareerServChat hashtag. Thanks for joining in!

We’d like to thank @YuliyaDennis of Oregon State University for being a host today! The chat lasts an hour. Each question is numbered (Q1, Q2 etc.). Begin each response with A1, A2 etc. The last 5 minutes are for networking & sharing links. Remember the hashtag! #CareerServChat

Q1. If you work in #HigherEd, does your institution offer career services to alumni? If yes, what types of services do you offer, and how are they usually delivered: in person, online, both? (Please answer as A1.) #CareerServChat

Q2. Does your institution have career advisors on staff dedicated only to serving alumni, or do staff members serve both alumni and students? For both roles, what department or division do they report to? #CareerServChat

Q3. On a scale of 1-5, to what extent would you say alumni are aware of the career services you offer? Do your alumni 5+ years post-graduation consider your office to be a key resource for their career development? #CareerServChat

Q4. If you use an alumni networking and mentoring tool, what platform do you use? How long have you used the product? Is it as effective as you would like? Why or why not? (@Graduway, @AlumniFire, @PeopleGroveCo, @FirsthandInc and @SwitchboardHQ are examples.) #CareerServChat

Stretch break! Grab some tea, run a lap around the office, or just take time to follow the other participants! #CareerServChat

Q5. The word “mentor” means different things to different people. Do you have a job description for alumni career mentors? Do you train and evaluate the alumni who volunteer as mentors to students or other alums? If so, how?

Share links if you can! #CareerServChat

Q6. The Alumni Career Services Network @myACSN has an annual conference each summer. If you attended #ACSN2018 in Boston, what was your top takeaway? If not, check out next year’s conference in DC! https://www.myacsn.org/conference-info #CareerServChat

Q7. What is the most innovative aspect of your institution's alumni career services program? What creative programs would you like to implement at your institution in the future? Keep sharing throughout the next few weeks, with the hashtag #CareerServChat!

Q8. Who are the thought leaders or key researchers in alumni career services that we should be listening to and learning from? Who is leading the way? Again, share throughout the next few weeks, with the hashtag #CareerServChat!

Circle time! Share blog posts, research, & resources related to this topic. If you found a chat participant to be helpful, follow ‘em here and then connect with ‘em on LinkedIn. Keep the conversation going in the coming weeks by using the hashtag #CareerServChat.
